President Robin McNulty convened the regular meeting of the Springfield Township Business Association at 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 1999 in the Grove Banquet Hall, 9158 Winton Road. Twenty-eight members and one guest were in attendance.
Concise Clerical Services, Inc. was the Spotlight Business at this meeting. Ms. Tina Fay explained that her business trains clients with disabilities to work at productive jobs in the clerical field. Concise Clerical is located at 8228 Winton Road.
Committee Reports:
Communications - Cathy Bonewell asked that any suggestions for topics of interest be fax'd to her at 851-4085. The most recent newsletter was prepared and mailed by Craig Keller of Express Graphics, a member of the Association. Mr. Keller has also prepared a draft copy of the Membership Directory which was available for inspection. The next Adopt-a-Highway clean up of Ronald Reagan Highway will take place on Saturday, April 17. Members are to meet at the Fire Station, 8375 Winton Road by 8:00 a.m.
Government Affairs - Township Administrator Mike Hinnenkamp reported that Township Trustees adopted the annual Permanent Appropriations measure at their March 9 meeting. This is the actual budget from which each department will work for the coming year. He informed members that the Township will sponsor two free summer concerts at The Grove. The first concert will be July 16 featuring The Modulators and the second will be August 13 when Ooh La La and The Greasers will combine with a Classic Car Cruise In.
The Treasurer's Report showed a balance of $1,859.00 and a paid membership of 59 businesses.
The Business Expo committee will meet next month and will report to the full membership in May.
Announcements:
Thom Schneider of Waycross Community Television informed members that schools charge Waycross $200 to air each basketball game and they are looking for "sponsors" for the championship telecast featuring Finneytown boys team. He noted also that starting in April, Township Trustees' meetings will be broadcast live on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
Coya Leithof of Young Life announced that they are seeking hole sponsors, corporate sponsors and players for a benefit golf tournament. Contact President Robin McNulty if interested.
The May meeting will be an interactive group session to plan what members want from the association and where we want it to go in the future.
Guest speaker Ed Lutz of Exodus On Line Services discussed "Internet Opportunities" . He focused on issues to consider if members develop a web site and how to go about developing one that will really benefit them. Check out our web site at http://www2.eos.net/STBA.
Karen Wilson, manager of Remke Market, 8457 Vine Street, stated they are happy to be in Springfield Township and invited everyone to visit their new store.
