Minutes of Regular Meeting

January 14, 1999

President Robin McNulty convened the regular meeting of the Springfield Township Business Association at 8:10 AM on Thursday, January 14, 1999 in the Grove Banquet Hall, 9158 Winton Road. Because severe weather conditions restricted travel, only 17 members and 1 guest were in attendance.

Committee Reports:

Communications - the next newsletter will contain information regarding the next clean up session on Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway. Any news items should be submitted as soon as possible to Cathy Bonewell or Joe Gorman. The Web site is up and running. Check it out at http://www2.EOS.net/STBA

Government Affairs - Township Administrator Mike Hinnenkamp reported that the Township's main focus has been on removal of snow and ice. It has become very apparent that the existing salt dome does not have sufficient capacity to meet such severe conditions. He reported also that the Police and Fire Departments have been recruiting new employees.

Programs - the committee is compiling a list of speakers for future meetings. Suggestions are welcome. Contact Robin McNulty.

The Treasurer's Report showed a balance of $1,970.00. This balance most likely does not show the expenditures made relative to operation of the Springfield Township Holiday Festival booth. Mr. Dale is working on a budget for 1999.

Activity Reports:
Adopt-a-Highway - Nine workers took part in the first clean up on Saturday, November 14, 1998. The highway looked much better after about 4 hours work. In the future, members who sign up to work will be called with a reminder. The more workers who take part, the quicker the work will be done.

Holiday Festival Booth - This project proved to be very successful as a public relations tool to reach the many people in attendance at the festival. Again, some members who had indicated they would man the booth at certain times did not fulfill that obligation. The Township thanked the Association for participating in this event.

Announcements:
At the last Board meeting, there was discussion about presenting a Business Expo to introduce everyone to members' services. A committee, consisting of Cathy Bonewell, Joe Gorman and Chuck Dale, was appointed to investigate the feasibility of such an event.

Guest speaker Barry Hallman, of Hallman Consulting & Services, Ltd., spoke regarding Year 2000 Compliance. Mr. Hallman discussed issues related to hardware, software, and techniques to assure your business is ready for the new millenium.

Next Meeting:

Regular: March 11, 1999 - 8:00 a.m. at the Grove, 9158 Winton Road

Board Meeting: February 12, 1999 - 8:00 a.m. at Angelo's Restaurant, 8270 Winton Road
