President Robin McNulty convened the regular meeting of
the Springfield Township Business Association at 8:10 a.m.
on Thursday, November 12, 1998 in The Grove banquet hall,
9158 Winton Road. In attendance were 32 members and 2 guests
- Mr. Jim Reichel of Fifth/Third Bank and Ms. Amy Augsburger
of Ohio Department of Transportation.
Because the Annual meeting is held each November, the
first order of business was election of officers for 1999.
Mr. McNulty announced that the proposed slate of officers
and directors was the same as those elected at the
organizational meeting in May. He then called for additional
nominations from the floor but there were none and
nominations were closed.

Announcements of interest to members included:
- the clean-up of Ronald Reagan Cross County highway at
8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14 (assemble at the
Firehouse, 8375 Winton Road);
- Finneytown High School's "Walk for Hope" to aid
students with severe illnesses;
- the Association's involvement in the Springfield
Township Holiday Festival on December 6;

- preparation of a membership list for publication in
January 1999
A brief overview of the Adopt-A-Highway was given along
with a list of safety concerns. A further briefing will be
given to all participants before going onto the highway.
ODOT provides trash bags, warning signs and orange vests but
members must supply gloves or pickup sticks, etc.
A report was made regarding the Township's Holiday
Festival. The Association will operate a booth to provide
hot chocolate, hot cider, and candy canes. Volunteers are
needed to work between 12:30 and 6:00 p.m. on that date.
No committee reports were given at this meeting.
There was no old business to be considered.
The member spotlight fell on Tony Rossi of TOP
Communications who is our fifty-third member. Mr. Rossi's
company sets up radio communication systems with a
particular focus on government agencies such as police and
fire departments.
Nancy Grathwohl introduced Mr. Jim Riechel, Director of
Security for 5th/3rd Bank and a former FBI agent. Mr.
Riechel spoke on check and credit card fraud and how to
protect our business and personal accounts, particularly
during the busy holiday season.
President McNulty adjourned the meeting at 9:15 a.m.
