PRESENT: Joseph Gorman,
Deborah Reynolds, Bob Will, Bess Sprockett, Bob
Trenkamp, Melanie McNulty.
The Board of Directors met at
8:00 A.M. at the Springfield Township Administration
Building, 9150 Winton Road.
Treasurer's Report: Bob
Will reported that the association now has 60 paid
members. As of our last board meeting, the treasury
had $4,141.62. We have had $266.65 in income, $521.61
in expenses which now leaves $3,886.66 as a balance in
checking.
Joe Gorman said signs will soon
be purchased stating that the "Springfield Township
Business Association is meeting here". These will be
realtor type signs that are easily moved from site to
site and are pushed into the ground.
Education Report: Bess
Sprockett recently met with Andy Boecher and Executive
Director, John Zimmerman, from the Powel Crosley YMCA,
and the career coordinators from the Mt. Healthy
School District to discuss partnership plans. The Y
will once again be partnering with Whitaker School in
the Finneytown District to host a family day at the Y
for families and teachers to get to know each other in
a social atmosphere. This day is held in August prior
to the opening of the school year. Plans are underway
to set this program up for one school in the Mt.
Healthy District. Bess is looking into the
possibility of the STBA sponsoring the food for these
events or asking businesses to sponsor school supplies
for children at the schools.
Another program being looked at
through the YMCA is for businesses in the township to
provide meals for the Y's "Buddy System" program. The
Buddy System brings fourth and fifth graders to the
YMCA and allows them to use any of the facilities for
a day. Bess will continue to look into these
programs.
Programs Report: Deborah
Reynolds reported that the next general business
association meeting will be a lunch meeting on
Thursday, May 10, at the Powel Crosley YMCA, 9601
Winton Road. Deanna Kuennen and Mike Hinnenkamp will
present the task force's recommendations for the

Land Use/Zoning Report:
Bob Trenkamp reported that the task force's
recommendations for the Winton Road Corridor will be
presented by Deanna Kuennen and Mike Hinnenkamp at the
May 10 meeting. Bob also reported that a Bigg's
Grocery store is planning to locate in the former Big
Lots area, however, the plans have not been officially
submitted to Hamilton County yet. Bob also stated
that he asked the owners of Brentwood Plaza to
announce their plans to the Springfield Township Board
of Trustees and the Springfield Township Business
Association to keep everyone in the loop. No one in
the group had information on plans for the
IGA.
Joe Gorman asked Deanna Kuennen,
Development Services Director for Springfield
Township, to give the STBA Board some insight into
developing a strategic plan for the association.
Deanna suggested making contact with other area
business associations to attend one of their meetings
and get on their mailing lists. Can possibly set up a
working relationship with other
associations.
The STBA should develop a team
to create the strategic plan. Deanna volunteered to
head up the team. Bess Sprockett and Deborah Reynolds
volunteered to assist.
Before developing the strategic
plan, businesses in the township should be surveyed.
Joe had the results of completed surveys sent out
three years ago. Deanna will revise these. Surveys
help to create interest in developing strategic plans.
Once the surveys go out, the entire association will
be invited to participate in reviewing
them.
President Joe Gorman adjourned
the meeting at 9:25 A.M.
Respectively submitted,
Melanie McNulty, Recording
Secretary
