Nov. 9 Luncheon - A Networking Opportunity

We hope you will come to our November 9th Luncheon at Waycross Community Media, 2086 Waycross Road.

The luncheon is only $5 and you will be treated to some of the best food around provided by Schmidt's Meats and Catering. (Schmidt's is located at 8621 Winton Rd.)

STBA members are invited, as well as other businesses to come and network, perhaps set up new business deals.

The Waycross Community Media facilities are newly renovated. You will receive a tour by the staff. I guarantee that you will walk away impressed.

Distressed Properties

Gail Jacobs has embarked on an energetic campaign to clean up some local eyesores.

She has begun writing letters on behalf of the STBA requesting information about abandoned or neglected properties.

Thanks to Gail's efforts, we know that the property at Reynard and Winton is being cleaned up and readied for a new tenant. The abandoned Perkins Restaurant on Winton is for sale for $800,000. Wouldn't a Panera Bakery be perfect for that spot?

2001 Nominations

Thanks to Joe "Buzz" Volz for heading up the nominations committee. Elections will be held November 9 at our Luncheon meeting at Waycross Community Media, 2086 Waycross Roads.

Digital Generations

Digital Generations has recently expanded its offices at 8464 Winton Road to increase their computer services, web design, and training abilities. In addition to their computer service area, they now have private training rooms for personalized, one-on-one training

The training rooms are equipped with the latest computer hardware and software, along with large 19-inch monitors. Scanners, cameras, printers and other peripherals are also available. Better still, the rooms are also available for rent to work on projects or meet with your clients.

Part of the new space at Digital Generations includes a group area where they plan to give a variety of technology-oriented presentations each month. This space is offered at no charge to community and non-profit groups when scheduling permits. Call them at 729-3282 for more information.

STBA Treasurer's Report

The balance of the treasury as of Oct. 13, 2000 was $3,307. Membership renewal forms for 2001 will be mailed by December.

Farewell to Peg

We say farewell to our Recording Secretary, Peg Doller, who is retiring in December.

Peg works for the Springfield Township Administration as the "queen of getting stuff done." She has been a positive force in this township as both a staff person and a volunteer for the STBA. We are going to miss her thoroughness and her work ethic. Peg always follows through with her assignments (especially getting people to help the Highway Clean-Up projects!)

Good luck, Peg, and enjoy your retirement. if you get antsy and want to do some work, we'll be glad to take you back.
