Business Updates

JOSEPH T. GORMAN • PRESIDENT

Every time you turn around, something new is happening here in Springfield Township.

Rally's at North Bend and Winton has closed, as well as the Perkins on Winton.

What I thought was to be Blockbuster's has morphed into a Hollywood Video store at Hempstead and Winton.

Waycross Community Media has expanded its facilities and will host an open house, Wednesday, June 28 at 6 p.m.

I strongly encourage you to visit Waycross studio because this facility, with its dedicated staff and volunteers, is a true treasure trove of public information and artistic soul!

The business association is slowly moving forward, gaining a new member here and there. However, we really need to know how the association can be meaningful to you. There are nearly 700 businesses in Springfield Township, and we have about 10% as members.

New member Deborah Reynolds of Queen City Balloons joined us to network and to expand her business. She has already benefited by placing new orders and by accepting the vice presidency. Former VP Sharon Thornton of Mercy Franciscan has been relocated on a new job and we wish her all the best.

I encourage you to join our business association.

Call me at 521-4297 and let me know what you think.

Healthy Decision Making in a Family Business

The guest speaker for our July 13 STBA meeting is Ellen Frankenberg, PhD, who has worked intensively with families since 1982.

A major focus of Dr. Frankenberg's work has been identifying and supporting the growth of healthy families. She will talk about making healthy decisions in a family business, including succession issues and ways to minimize conflict.

Dr. Frankenberg is a columnist for Family Business magazine.

STBA Business Expo July 21

Don't forget that we are having our Second Annual STBA Expo on July 21st from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at the Grove on Winton Road. The Expo will be held in conjunction with the Springfield Township's Groovin at the Grove event. There will be plenty of food, music, and dancing.

Admission is free! Come and enjoy the Tae Kwon Do presentation. "The Expo held last year gave Anderson Funeral Homes a wonderful opportunity to share our services with the public," said Leslie Ivey.

For information or to reserve your table, call Gene Burton from the Will Agency at 522-2650.

STBA Treasurer's Report

Bob Will • Treasurer

The balance of the treasury as of June 9, 2000 was $3,305.

Sixty-three (63) businesses have either joined or renewed. If you haven't renewed your dues, please do. Call me at 522-2650 if you have questions about joining or renewing your membership.

Queen City Balloons

The newest member of the Springfield Township Business Association is Queen City Balloons. A special events decorating company based in Finneytown, Queen City Balloons has over ten years of experience in event design and construction. They specialize in attention-getting decor and displays for corporate and private functions. Queen City Balloons produces custom imprinted foil and latex balloons. Their competitive advantage: the minimum order quantity of 25, quick turnaround time and affordable prices. VIP Gift Concepts designs, fabricates and delivers gift baskets, balloon bouquets, and candy bouquets.
