COMMITTEE REPORTS

Communications Ð Newsletter postage is greatest STBA expenditure.  Sent to 600 businesses.  Scott Ficke will look into getting a non-profit postage rate.  STBA could also add the Òreturn address requestedÓ option so that the newsletter is returned if a business is no longer at that address.  This will help purge the list.  Scott will also look into the cost of printing and come up with ways to trim costs.  Because STBA will soon become a Chamber of Commerce, Scott also volunteered to work on a new logo design.

Programs Ð Nancy Phillips had nothing new to report.  Rhys would like to have a mixer/happy hour sometime in August.

Membership Ð Karen Burton was not in attendance.

Land Use & Zoning Ð  Rhys Reynolds gave the Township update.  Rhys will meet with Administrator, Mike Hinnenkamp and Development Services Director, Chris Gilbert every couple of months for an update.  To date:  the Fire and Administration building completion date is October 7, 2004.  Possible Open House planned for that date. New Kroger on Winton Road scheduled to open in November.  The current Fire Station/Service Department at 8375 Winton Road will be sold to New Plan Excel Realty.  No tenant for old Kroger store to date.  Panera is going in the current Kenwood Savings building across from the new Kroger.  Spring of 2006 is earliest Winton Road corridor plan would begin.  The late starting date will hold up the streetscape plan.  The Business Association will work with Chris Gilbert in an effort to insure businesses remain in Springfield Township.

Old Business Ð

á      GroovinÕ at the Grove Ð The Business Association will sell DonatoÕs pizza and dessert pizzas in the booth this year.  DonatoÕs will have a representative present for both events.  Nancy Phillips will check into also selling popcorn at the event.

á      New Land Use & Zoning Committee Chair Ð Rhys Reynolds asked Mr. Jackson if he would take over the Land Use & Zoning Chairperson position.  DeShonne accepted the position.
