SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

GENERAL MEETING Ð MAY 12, 2005

 

The breakfast meeting was held at The Springfield Township Senior/Community Center.

 

The meeting was called to order at 8:07 a.m. by President Rhys Reynolds.  Ms. Reynolds asked all in attendance to introduce themselves and state what business they represented or owned.  There were 14 members and 4 panelists in attendance.

 

TreasurerÕs Report Ð Bob Will gave the following report:

Balance as of last general meeting -    $2,486.29

Income                                            -    $2,188.68

Expenses                                        -     $2,449.53

Balance                                          -     $2,225.44

 

The RCP cost $835, but expenses will be covered by business ads placed by STCC members.

 

Election of Officers Ð

Ms. Reynolds expressed her desire to fill the vacant positions on the Board and asked for volunteers to fill the vacancies until regular elections take place at the November meeting.

For the Vice PresidentÕs position, Rhys nominated Laura Kinney.  The nomination was seconded and Ms. Kinney accepted her nomination.

The following people were elected to the Board by a unanimous vote of attending members:

 

President Ð Ryhs Reynolds

Vice President Ð Laura Kinney

Treasurer Ð Bob Will

Recording Secretary Ð Melanie McNulty

 

Trustees:

Communications - Scott Finke and Chip Berquist

Land Use and Zoning Ð MarkBurchett

Membership Ð Chris Vogelsang  (**at the conclusion of the regular meeting, Ms. Vogelsang offered to chair the Membership Committee.  She was then appointed to the position by President Reynolds.)

 

Change in By-laws Ð

Due to a decrease in participation at the general meetings, the Board voted last month to amend the current By-Laws to read: ÒThe general meetings of the Members shall be held semi-annually on the second Thursday of May and November beginning Thursday, May 12, 2005, unless the Board deems it necessary to change the date.Ó

A motion to accept the amended By-Law as read was made by Scott Finke.  The motion was seconded and passed.

 

Chamber of Commerce Updates Ð

 

Panel Discussion Ð Business Essentials:

The following people participated in a panel discussion about a variety of business topics.

 

Announcements Ð

Saturday, August 20th Ð Seventh Annual Car Show.  Registration starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m.  Awards at 4:00.  DJ during the day.  The band ÒNightlifeÓ is on stage from 7 - 10 p.m.  STCC will again run the DonatoÕs booth.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.

 

**Next Board meeting Ð Thursday, June 9th beginning at 8:00 a.m.  It will be held at the Northminster Family Life Center at the corner of W. Compton Road and Woodview Drive.  Please park in the Northminster Presbyterian Church parking lot and walk to the center via the sidewalk.
