President Reynolds began discussion regarding a lack of participation from members in the Chamber of Commerce.  General meeting attendance has gone down and no one has stepped forward to run for positions on the Board.

The following are some ideas discussed to increase attendance:

  1. End the existence of the Chamber of Commerce.  Close it down.
  2. Hold two general meeting a year: Fall (November - election of officers) and Spring (May).
  3. Hold quarterly meetings.
  4. Hold joint meetings with other Chambers of Commerce.
  5. Hire someone to do PR work to promote the organization and its meetings.
  6. Hold STCC meetings two times per year and joint meetings two times per year.

The Board discussed changing the current By-Laws (Article III, section A) to read:

ÒThe general meetings of the Members shall be held semi-annually on the second Thursday of May and November beginning Thursday, May 12, 2005, unless the Board deems it necessary to change the date.Ó

Bob Will made the motion to amend the By-laws as stated above.  The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.  This change will be put before the members in attendance at the general meeting on May 12, 2005 and voted upon.
