Discussion was held, and it was decided, to invite Deanna Kuennan, Development Services Director for Springfield Township, to all STBA Board and General meetings in the future. Deanna will serve as a link to update the business association about items of interest going on in the Township.

Treasurer’s Report — In his absence, Bob Will emailed the financial information. Balance as of last Board meeting: $3,486.86. Income: $350.24. Expenses: $897.33. Current balance: $2,939.77.

Programs Report — Denise Cagle reported that the next general meeting will be held on Thursday, May 9 at 12:00 noon at the Powel Crosley YMCA. It will be a luncheon meeting and Denise will get prices from Schmidt’s and Cuisine’s Catering Services. Ms Cagle is currently looking into a speaker for the meeting.

Strategic Plan — There are no new developments at this time.

Membership — Andy Boettcher offered to become the membership director and update the Township Business Directory. He will talk with Chip Berquist and Maggie Wesley about this.

New Business —

  1. Springfield Township Vision and Land Use Committee — Deborah Reynolds and Bob Trenkamp serve on this committee with other residents and business owners in the township. In a recent report developed by the committee it stated that within 1 to 3 years the Springfield Township Business Association should step up and become more visible in the community. A strong business association will help keep the community strong and help attract new businesses.
  2. Groovin’ at the Grove — The dates are set for Friday, July 12 and Friday, August 16. The Business Expo will be held on July 12. Deborah will contact Karen Burton of Winton Savings and ask for her help planning the Expo. Andy Boettcher suggested holding a raffle for a large basket containing items donated from township businesses. These items could be goods or services.
  3. Melanie McNulty asked for the STBA’s help in running the grilled food booth again this summer. She will contact Maggie Wesley to see if she would like to chair the booth again.

  4. Other Items of Interest — Bob Trenkamp will see if a business is planning to move into the defunct Hollywood Video location.
  5. President Reynolds discussed the possibility of STBA hosting workshops and speakers at other times during the month, not just at our general meetings.

Andy Boettcher suggested looking into discounted services that could serve as a perk for businesses to join STBA. He said lowered insurance rates are available from a person in the Woodlawn Chamber of Commerce. Andy will give Deborah the information.

  6. Policies and procedures for donations by the business association - Andy Boettcher and Bob Trenkamp will meet to set a list of policies and procedures for giving. This topic has been discussed in the past but no set of criteria had been developed. The discussion began due to a letter received from Karen Hug asking for a donation to the Finneytown Kids Wrestling Program.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:25.

Respectfully submitted,

Melanie McNulty
