SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

Board of Directors Ð February 12, 2004

 

PRESENT: Deborah Reynolds, Andy Boettcher, Bob Will, Chip Berquist, Nancy Phillips and Melanie McNulty.

 

The meeting was held in the Springfield Township Administration Building and called to order at 8:10 a.m. by President Deborah Reynolds.

 

TreasurerÕs Report Ð Bob Will gave the following financial report:

                    Balance as of last Board Meeting    $2,661.00

                    Income                                                  295.80

                    Expenses                                               319.78

                    Total                                                 $2,637.02

 

Discussion took place concerning the RCP Directory and ads from businesses in the STBA.  Andy Boettcher will call the businesses that took out ads last year to see if they are interested again.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Communications:  Chip will organize and send out the March newsletter.  Bob Will suggested that Chip include a membership form so businesses that are not members have the opportunity to join. Bob also plans to approach Brentwood Printing, a Business Association member, about laying out, printing and mailing the newsletters.  STBA would pay for printing and postage.

Kathy Walters charges $300 for lay out only Ð does not include printing or postage.

 

Programs:  Nancy will call Cathy Dennis about speaking at the March meeting.  Cathy was scheduled for January, but was sick and could not attend.  Ms. Phillips asked for other suggestions for speakers.

 

Membership:  Bob Will reported that he will send out membership renewal invoices by February 17, 2004.

 

Deborah Reynolds discussed the following:

á      The need for more communication between the Township, its business development plan and the Business Association.

á      The need for a sub-committee made up of members from the STBA and the business community to support and have some say in the business development in Springfield Township.

á      Bob Will volunteered to speak with Administrator, Michael Hinnenkamp about the idea of STBA being more involved with business development.

á      Help with preparing legal documents to attain Chamber of Commerce status.  The STBA may have to pay an attorney to look over the completed documents if no one will volunteer to do so.

 

Next general meetings:  March 11 at 11:30 a.m. at Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA. 

                                       May 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the Springfield Township Senior Center.

 

The meeting was adjourned by President Deborah Reynolds at 9:15 a.m.
