SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Board of Directors Ð October 14, 2004

 

PRESENT: Rhys Reynolds, Andy Boettcher, Bob Will, Karen Burton, Nancy Phillips, Scott Finke and Melanie McNulty.

 

The meeting was held at AngeloÕs Restaurant on Winton Road and called to order at 8:08 A.M.

 

TreasurerÕs Report Ð Bob Will gave the following financial report:

                                   Balance as of last Board meeting          $3,454.61

                                   Income                                                   $1,472.15

                                   Expenses                                                $2,166.15

                                   Current Balance                                     $2,760.61

 

There was some discussion about the DonatoÕs Pizza booth at GroovinÕ at the Grove.  All felt the booth went well, but could make more money with some revisions of menu and prices.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Communications Ð Scott Finke reported that the newsletter will go out by November 1st.  His goal is to print the newsletter by the 1st of the month of publication.  Articles are to be submitted by the last week of the previous month.

 

Programs Ð Nancy Phillips had nothing new to report, however an Open House is being  planned and can be read under ÒMembershipÓ below.

 

Membership Ð Karen Burton and Bob Will reported there are 55 paid members.

á      President Reynolds would like to find a small office or space to have, at minimum, a phone and answering machine for members, prospective members or others to call.  The STCC needs a base to work from.  Karen Burton will check into space in the basement of Winton Savings after the first of the year.

á      Bob Will made a motion to make the dues a flat $50 per member.  The motion was seconded and passed.

á      Discussion took place about a formal membership drive.  Our goals and objectives must be spelled out clearly and prospective members need to know about the benefits available by becoming a member of the Chamber.

á      Scott Finke will design a new logo and prepare an updated STCC brochure.

á      An Open House and Membership Drive is planned for Tuesday, December 2nd at Sunrise Assisted Living from 5:00 until 6:30 P.M.

 

Old Business Ð

á      Chamber Update Ð Ms. Reynolds reported we are now a Chamber of Commerce.  Waiting for the 501 (c) (3) status from the federal government.  Cost to submit non-profit status paperwork is $150.

 

New Business Ð

á      SOCA - Rhys asked for a vote from the Board to join the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance.  There are no membership fees or meetings.  Join strictly to receive benefits.  There are currently six other member chambers.  Bob Will made the motion to join.  There was a second and the motion passed.

á      Regional Commerce Partnership Ð The STCC will again participate in the RCP.  Will only purchase enough directories for our members plus 2 extra to sell.  Next RCP meeting is Wednesday, October 20th at the Holiday Inn in Sharonville at 11:00.  There will be a ÒMeet the Candidates for Hamilton County Commissioners Forum.Ó    This yearÕs holiday party is Wednesday, December 15th.

á      Scott FinkeÕs wife will write a press release announcing our new status as a Chamber of Commerce.

 

Other Business Ð

á      The next meeting is Thursday, November 11th at Powel Crosley YMCA at 11:30 A.M.  Elections will take place.  Cost is $5.00 for LaRosaÕs.  Must RSVP to the Y at 521-7112.
