SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

GENERAL MEETING Ð JANUARY 13, 2005

 

The luncheon meeting was held at the Springfield Township Administration and Fire Complex at 9150 Winton Road.  There were 13 people in attendance.

 

Following lunch, the meeting was called to order at 12:00 noon by President Ryhs Reynolds.  Ms. Reynolds asked all in attendance to introduce themselves and state what business they represented or owned.

 

Ms. Rhys asked that the election of officers be suspended until the next general meeting due to a low turn out of members.  Two vacancies on the board need to be filled.  1.) Vice President; 2.)  Trustee to head the Land Use and Zoning Committee.

A request for volunteers to fill these positions, or to run for any other office, will be placed in the next newsletter.

 

TreasurerÕs Report Ð Treasurer Bob Will reported the following:

Balance as of last general meeting - $2,571.57

Income                                            -   $821.64

Expenses                                         -   $906.92

Current balance                                 $2,486.29

 

Committee Reports:

 

á      Communications Ð Chip Berquist gave the new Springfield Township website address: www.springfieldtwp.chamber.org

á      Membership Ð Karen Burton asked members to try to recruit new businesses and let them know the organization is now a Chamber of Commerce

á      Programs Ð Rhys Reynolds reported that a ÒBusiness After HoursÓ social and networking opportunity is being planned for Thursday, February 17th at Sunrise Assisted Living of Finneytown from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m.

 

RCP Update Ð Ms. Reynolds reported that she and Nancy Phillips are the STCC representatives to the Regional Commerce Partnership.  RCP is comprised of the following: Evendale, Forest Park, Sharonville, Springdale, Springfield Township and the Woodlawn Chambers of Commerce.  Ads can now be placed in the 2005 RCP directory; as listing of all business members of each chamber.  Cost is $150 for business card size ad (if a renewal) and $175 for a new ad.

 

Springfield Township Update Ð Township Administrator, Mike Hinnenkamp, gave the following update:

á      Township zoning effective throughout township as of 11-30-04.  Call Chris Gilbert at 522-1410 with questions.

á      Property Maintenance Code in effect 1-14-05.  Sets standards for property maintenance.

á      New Fire and Administration Building complete.  Police Department addition and renovation complete.  New Service Complex currently being constructed.

á      No news about the old Kroger site.  Will be commercial development of some sort.

á      Update Ð Brentwood Shopping Center renovation and Kroger complete.  New car wash going in across from Fire Station.  Panera Bread under construction across Winton Road from new Kroger.  QuiznoÕs to go in across from Administration Building.

á      Township considering electric aggregation.  Issue could be placed on November ballot.  If passes, township would negotiate to get lower electric rates for residences and businesses. 

 

Announcement - The Columbus Report, a live call-in show on Waycross Community Media channel 24, will be broadcast on Monday, January 24th from 8 Ð 9 p.m.  State reps and senators serving the Waycross community will answer questions concerning education in Ohio.  Call 825-2429 or check the website at www.waycross.org for more information.

 

President Reynolds introduced Springfield Township Fire Chief Robert Leininger as the guest speaker.
